Anapu Mayor Suspended 90 Days for Transparency Portal FailureThe City Council of Anapu has voted to remove Mayor Luiz Carlos Aguiar Leite (Republicanos) from office for a period of up to 90 days. The suspension was enacted due to what the council termed 'dolose inertia' in the administration of the municipal transparency portal.
Following the decision, Vice-Mayor Romildo Silva Rocha (PSDB) has assumed the mayoral duties on an interim basis. The council also approved the creation of a special investigative commission to examine the matter further.
The action highlights the council's oversight role in ensuring municipal governance adheres to transparency standards. The investigation will seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged failure to maintain the public portal, a key tool for civic accountability.
