Moscow Dynamo is actively exploring the possibility of bringing back one of its homegrown talents from North America. Head coach Leonid Tambev revealed that a defender who developed within the club's system could be making a return from the American Hockey League (AHL).

During a recent media session, Tambev addressed questions about potential repatriations. When asked specifically about players like Nikita Novikov or Vadim Zherenko, the coach was deliberately vague but confirmed a move is possible. "One defenseman might come back. I won't name names, but it's possible. I was just watching him today. He's kind of stuck in the AHL," Tambev stated, as relayed by Championship correspondent Sergei Emelyanov.

The timing of this potential recruitment is significant for the KHL club. Dynamo Moscow concluded the recent regular season in seventh place in the Western Conference standings. Their playoff campaign was short-lived, as they were eliminated in the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs, suffering a 0-4 series sweep at the hands of fellow Dynamo side from Minsk.

This early exit has clearly prompted the coaching staff to look for reinforcements, particularly on the blue line. Bringing back a familiar face who understands the club's culture and systems could provide a quicker integration than signing an unknown foreign player. The AHL, while a top-tier development league, is not the NHL, and a player described as "stuck" there may be eager for a new opportunity and a more prominent role.

The identity of the defenseman remains a mystery for now. Tambev's refusal to name the player suggests negotiations may be in a delicate phase or that the club wishes to avoid creating unnecessary speculation. Fans and analysts will be watching closely for any official announcements in the coming weeks as the team prepares for the next season.
