Firjan Centro-Sul Fluminense is set to host a significant event focused on waste management and recycling solutions. The gathering, titled "Challenges and Solutions for Waste Management," will take place on May 14 at 2 PM. It is organized in partnership with Grupo Mil and will be held at the Firjan Centro Sul Fluminense headquarters on Rua Isaltino Silveira in the Cantagalo neighborhood of Três Rios, Rio de Janeiro.

The initiative aims to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders. Business leaders, environmental specialists, representatives from various organizations, and members of the general public will convene to explore sustainable alternatives. The discussions are geared towards fostering regional development and enhancing the overall quality of life in the area.

This event is timed to coincide with the World Recycling Day, which is celebrated on May 17. Attendance is free of charge, though registration is required as spots are limited. Interested individuals can secure their place through an online form or by scanning a QR code provided by the event organizers.

The program is structured around thematic panels and expert lectures. Key topics will include recycling processes, environmental licensing, and the principles of the circular economy. The event will commence with the presentation of the third edition of a major study titled "Mapping of Post-Consumer Recyclables in the State of Rio de Janeiro." This research was developed by Firjan and officially launched in October 2025.

A notable participant will be the State Environmental Institute (Inea). Representatives from Inea will lead sessions addressing critical aspects of environmental licensing and the operation of the MTR system, which is the manifest for the transport of waste. Their insights are expected to provide clarity on regulatory frameworks for attending businesses.

Several invited companies will also take the stage to share their firsthand experiences and successful actions in the field of waste management and sustainability. These case studies will offer practical models for others to consider. The formal agenda will conclude with an open debate, allowing all participants to discuss the presented data and brainstorm actionable solutions to increase recycling rates and minimize environmental impacts in the region.

The event will wrap up with a networking coffee break, providing a relaxed atmosphere for attendees to continue conversations and build professional connections. Based on reporting from g1.
