Sulfur Spill on SP-070 Highway Causes Traffic DisruptionA collision between two trucks on the Ayrton Senna Highway (SP-070) in Itaquaquecetuba on Thursday night (August 7) resulted in a spill of granulated sulfur. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The accident has blocked the right lane of the highway heading toward the interior. Four teams from the Fire Department are currently operating at the scene to manage the situation.

Due to the nature of the cargo, specialized environmental and emergency response agencies, including CETESB and Ambipar, have been called to assist with the safe transshipment of the spilled sulfur. Authorities note that sulfur is a flammable material that can release toxic gases when burned, requiring careful handling.

Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area as cleanup operations continue.
