The Civil Police of Amazonas have formally indicted three municipal guards in connection with the fatal shooting of a young man in Manaus earlier this year. The indictment, sent to the state's Court of Justice and Public Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, names Guilherme Pinheiro Braide, Hawan Lima Aguiar, and Ataíde Fernandes Romeiro Junior.

The victim, 22-year-old Bruno Girão Santos, was killed in the early hours of February 26th. The incident occurred in the União alleyway, located in the Compensa neighborhood on the city's West Side. According to his family, Santos was returning from work and had entered the alley to meet a friend when he was shot.

Family members have provided testimony alleging that the guards fired the shots that struck Santos from behind. His aunt, Jaqueline Girão, stated at the time that the community witnessed the event. "The entire population saw it, there are witnesses, neighbors who heard the shots. They fired two shots. They shot my nephew in the back and now he is dead," she said.

The case has drawn public attention, with demonstrators later taking to the streets holding signs demanding justice for the slain young man. The indictment marks a significant procedural step, moving the case from the investigative phase into the judicial system for potential prosecution.
