Washington Capitals add two young forwards, signing Czech winger Petr Sikora to a three-year entry-level deal and Swedish center Theodor Niederbach to a one-year, two-way contract.

The Washington Capitals have made a pair of moves to strengthen their forward pipeline, officially announcing the signings of two European prospects. The club has secured Czech winger Petr Sikora and Swedish center Theodor Niederbach, adding depth and potential to their organization.

Sikora, a 2024 NHL Draft selection, has agreed to a standard three-year entry-level contract with the Capitals. The deal carries an average annual value of $995,000. Washington originally selected the 20-year-old in the sixth round of last year's draft, using the 178th overall pick to acquire his rights.

The young Czech forward is coming off a productive season in his home country's top professional league. Playing for HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech Extraliga, Sikora recorded 9 points, consisting of 3 goals and 6 assists, across 24 regular-season games. His performance was notable, as he led his team in both assists and total points among players aged 25 and under, while also ranking second in goals within that same age group.

In a separate transaction, the Capitals also signed Swedish forward Theodor Niederbach. The 22-year-old center has inked a one-year, two-way contract for the upcoming season. The financial terms of the agreement are set at $1,025,000 if he plays at the NHL level, with a salary of $85,000 assigned if he is assigned to the American Hockey League (AHL).

Niederbach arrives in North America after a career-best season in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Skating for Frölunda HC, he set a new personal high in goals, finding the back of the net 13 times over 52 regular-season contests. This goal-scoring output demonstrated a significant step forward in his offensive development.

These signings represent a continued investment in young talent by the Capitals' front office. Both players bring recent, high-level experience from top European leagues and will look to make an impression during training camp and the preseason. Their paths to the NHL roster may differ, but both add valuable organizational depth at the forward position.
