Cruz Alta Cereal Fraud: 11 Arrested in R$6M SchemeAuthorities in Cruz Alta, located in the Noroeste region of Rio Grande do Sul, have arrested 11 individuals in connection with a major fraud scheme at a local cereal company. The operation, dubbed 'Operação Romaneio,' was carried out by the Delegacia de Polícia de Repressão às Ações Criminosas Organizadas (Draco) on Thursday.

The fraud, which caused losses exceeding R$6 million, was uncovered during an internal company audit and subsequently reported to the police. According to the investigation, employees allegedly reused legitimate grain weighing records to create fictitious shipping documents, or 'romaneios,' simulating deliveries that never actually occurred.

The investigation began approximately one month ago. By 9 a.m. on the day of the operation, 11 people had been taken into custody as search and arrest warrants were executed.
