A devastating single-vehicle accident unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning on the BR-482 highway in Carangola, located in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of two women from the same family and left two others with injuries.

According to reports from the Polícia Militar (PM), the sequence of events began when the 35-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control. The car subsequently rolled over multiple times before coming to a final rest in a pasture. The force of the crash proved fatal for two of the passengers.

The victims who lost their lives have been identified as a 61-year-old woman and a 96-year-old woman. Authorities confirmed the pair were mother and daughter. They were also family members of the driver, being his aunt and grandmother, respectively.

The driver himself managed to extricate himself from the wrecked vehicle without assistance. However, his 60-year-old mother, who was also a passenger, required medical attention. The family was traveling from Rio de Janeiro with a final destination of Lajinha, Minas Gerais. Their route took them through the municipality of Fervedouro. It was at this point that their GPS navigation system directed them to proceed towards Carangola, where the fatal accident subsequently occurred.

Emergency services and a forensic team responded to the scene. The Corpo de Bombeiros assisted in the aftermath, and the police initiated their standard investigative procedures. The bodies of the deceased were transported to the Instituto Médico Legal (IML) in Muriaé for further examination.
