Police in Mato Grosso arrest two men suspected of killing four workers from Bahia in Paraíba. The arrests were made in Cuiabá, with a press conference scheduled to reveal more details about the case.

In a significant development in a violent crime case, authorities in Mato Grosso have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in the murder of four workers from the state of Bahia. The arrests took place in the city of Cuiabá on Thursday, May 7th, and were confirmed by the Polícia Civil da Paraíba.

The case centers on the discovery of four bodies in a wooded area of the Brisamar neighborhood in João Pessoa on April 3rd. Initial forensic analysis indicated the victims had been shot and killed approximately two days prior to being found, with three of them having their hands bound behind their backs. The advanced state of decomposition required extensive forensic examinations to confirm the identities of the victims.

According to investigators, the primary line of inquiry suggests the killings were linked to a drug debt involving one of the victims, identified as 22-year-old Lucas Bispo. The other three men were not believed to have had such debts. The order to execute the four workers was allegedly given by a leader of a criminal organization based in Rio de Janeiro, who remains a fugitive.

Prior to the arrests in Mato Grosso, police had already detained one suspect during a joint operation in Bayeux on April 8th. That individual, who had a previous arrest record for drug trafficking, was found in possession of a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims. A woman present at that location was also arrested on drug trafficking charges, though she is not considered connected to the murders.

The Polícia Civil da Paraíba has identified five additional suspects believed to have participated in the execution and concealment of the bodies. All are currently fugitives with arrest warrants issued by the judiciary. The investigation also revealed that the vehicle used in the crime had been stolen in the municipality of Santa Rita.

A press conference was scheduled for Friday, May 8th, in João Pessoa, where the Polícia Civil da Paraíba promised to provide more detailed information about the circumstances of the arrests in Mato Grosso and the specific roles the two apprehended suspects allegedly played in the crime.
