Brazilian Police Launch Operation Centelha Against Gambling Money LaunderingIn a significant move against organized crime, Brazil's Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) have initiated Operation Centelha. The operation targets a money laundering scheme connected to the illegal gambling network known as 'jogo do bicho.'

The primary focus is a network of gas stations allegedly linked to the family of Rogério Andrade, a major figure in the illegal gambling world who is currently imprisoned. The operation has resulted in 16 search and seizure warrants being executed across locations in Rio de Janeiro and Mangaratiba.

Among those targeted in the warrants are three civil police officers and one military police officer, highlighting the alleged infiltration of law enforcement. Authorities have seized a substantial list of assets, including real estate, luxury vehicles, company shares, and 16 vessels.

This operation represents a coordinated effort to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting illegal gambling activities in the region.
