Hantavirus Outbreak on Cruise Ship: 3 Dead, 6 InfectedA serious hantavirus outbreak has been reported aboard the cruise ship MV Hondius, resulting in three confirmed deaths and three confirmed infections. Health authorities are investigating an additional five suspected cases linked to the vessel.
The outbreak was identified after the ship, which departed from Ushuaia, Argentina, on April 1st, was anchored near Cape Verde. Two of the three patients who were transferred to a hospital in the Netherlands are currently in serious condition.
The MV Hondius has since departed from its anchorage and is now en route to Spanish territory. The situation remains under close monitoring by health officials as the investigation continues.
