Internal tensions at Paris Saint-Germain's youth academy have led two senior recruitment staff to take sick leave, citing management issues with director Yohan Cabaye.

The Paris Saint-Germain first team may be enjoying a successful season, but significant unrest is brewing within the club's renowned youth development center. The latest development sees two more members of the recruitment cell, coordinator Omar Allel and scout Paulo Gonçalves, deciding to take temporary leave from their positions.

This situation follows the earlier departure of Pierre Reynaud, a long-standing and respected figure in the academy's scouting network. The current crisis appears to stem from a fundamental clash over the operational direction of the recruitment department, specifically concerning the methods and philosophy championed by the center's director, Yohan Cabaye.

According to internal sources, the core of the dispute revolves around Cabaye's initiative to modernize and restructure the scouting process. Since taking charge, the former midfielder has sought to implement significant changes. These include introducing data-driven analysis into the recruitment strategy and reinstating formal written reports, a practice that had been discontinued following the club's past controversy over ethnic profiling.

The move to reintroduce written documentation and data analytics has been met with resistance from some veteran scouts, who feel their traditional methods and autonomy are being undermined. The tension reportedly escalated from initial disagreements between Cabaye and the now-absent Pierre Reynaud, creating a rift that has since widened to involve other staff members.

Paulo Gonçalves, who has been on leave since February, finds himself at the center of a specific grievance. He was instrumental in initiating an internal investigation that ultimately led to an official warning being issued to Yohan Cabaye. Gonçalves now believes he is being unfairly held responsible for the fallout of that inquiry, asserting that he was simply fulfilling his duty as a staff representative (CSE delegate) by reporting a workplace dysfunction.

The departure of the coordinator, Omar Allel, alongside Gonçalves, indicates the depth of the management crisis. A source within the club described the environment as one where "many stories are intertwined," but confirmed that the primary catalyst was the conflict over recruitment control and methodology between Cabaye and the scouting staff.

While the senior team continues to perform on the pitch, this internal strife at the academy level raises questions about the club's long-term talent pipeline and the stability of its youth development project. The situation highlights the growing pains that can accompany a shift in institutional philosophy, even within one of Europe's most resource-rich football organizations.
