Brazil's health agency Anvisa has suspended production and ordered a recall of numerous Ypê brand cleaning products due to microbiological contamination risks found at their Amparo, SP factory.

In a major regulatory action, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has issued a sweeping recall for dozens of products from the popular household brand Ypê. The agency announced the move on Thursday, May 7th, citing significant failures in the manufacturing process that pose a risk of microbiological contamination.

The recall specifically targets items produced at the Química Amparo facility located in Amparo, São Paulo. Anvisa's decision follows a technical inspection that uncovered what it described as "relevant non-compliances in critical stages of the production process." As a result, the agency has ordered a full halt to the manufacturing, commercialization, distribution, and use of all listed products.

The scope of the recall is extensive, covering a wide range of common household cleaners. Affected categories include various dishwashing liquids, laundry detergents, and disinfectants. Consumers are advised to check the lot numbers on their products; the recall applies only to items whose lot numbers end with the digit "1."

Among the specific products pulled from shelves are several variants of Ypê dish soap, including those with active enzymes, clear care formulas, and the "Toque Suave" and "Green" lines. The laundry detergent recall affects multiple Tixan Ypê liquid formulations, such as those designed to combat odors, provide antibacterial action, and offer coconut and vanilla scents, along with the "Express," "Power Act," and "Premium" liquid detergent lines.

Disinfectants are also part of the action. The list includes Bak Ypê disinfectant, the general-use Atol disinfectant, perfumed Atol disinfectant, and Pinho Ypê disinfectant. The agency's resolution, published as Resolution 1.834/2026, underscores the severity of the findings at the production facility.

Anvisa has issued clear guidance to the public. Any consumer who has these specific products at home is urged to stop using them immediately. The recommended course of action is to contact the company's Consumer Service (SAC) for detailed information on the return and recall procedures.

The company Ypê has responded with strong opposition. In an official statement, the brand expressed "indignation with the decision," calling the measure "arbitrary and disproportionate." Ypê announced its intention to appeal the ruling, claiming it possesses independent laboratory reports that prove its products are "totally safe and adequate for consumption."

This recall represents a significant challenge for one of Brazil's most recognized household brands, as it navigates a public dispute with the nation's top health regulator over the safety of its core product lines.
