Metrô do Recife Train Fleet Reduced From 11 to 7 UnitsThe agreement between the federal government and the state of Pernambuco to 'state-ify' the administration of the Metrô do Recife included a plan to send 11 trains to reinforce the metro system. However, the delivery of this fleet, which was already behind schedule, is now expected to be reduced to just seven units.

The reduction comes after four of the five locomotives that were set to arrive from Porto Alegre failed to pass their required inspection. This setback has forced a revision of the original plan.

Despite this change, the schedule for the arrival of the trains from Belo Horizonte is expected to proceed as planned, with deliveries currently set for the period between May and September 2026.
