A dramatic collision in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, resulted in a car flipping completely onto its roof after a driver failed to obey a mandatory stop sign. The incident occurred on Friday, May 8th, at the intersection of Avenida Belarmino Cotta Pacheco and Rua Lourdes de Carvalho in the Santa Mônica neighborhood.
Surveillance camera footage captured the exact moment of the accident. The video shows a Fiat Pálio traveling along Rua Lourdes de Carvalho as it approaches the intersection. Instead of stopping at the mandatory sign, the vehicle proceeds directly into the path of oncoming traffic.
The Pálio then collided with a Fiat Mobi that was traveling along the main Avenida Belarmino Cotta Pacheco. The force of the impact was severe enough to cause the smaller Mobi to overturn, coming to rest with all four wheels pointed skyward in the middle of the roadway.
Bystanders who witnessed the crash immediately rushed to the scene to assist the driver of the overturned vehicle. According to the Military Police (PM) report, both drivers involved in the collision declined medical attention at the scene, indicating they did not sustain serious injuries requiring hospitalization.
However, the incident did not conclude without legal consequences for both motorists. Police officers who responded to the scene issued citations to both the driver of the Pálio and the driver of the Mobi. The citations were for unspecified irregularities found in their vehicle documentation.
