Former Zenit Saint Petersburg player and current coach Alexander Aniukov has offered his perspective on the development of Gustavo Mantuan, who has successfully transitioned from a winger into a fullback. In an exclusive interview, Aniukov detailed the complexities involved in such a positional shift and the club's approach to the player's training.
Aniukov emphasized that converting a midfielder into a defender is a difficult task, particularly without a foundational background and experience in that specific role. The training effort is not isolated to Mantuan alone. Aniukov revealed that the club works with a dedicated group of 10-12 players, including defensive midfielders, on these specific defensive tasks.
