Brazil May End 'Blusinhas' Import Tax: Finance Minister ConfirmsBrazil's Finance Minister, Dario Durigan, has confirmed that the government is actively discussing the potential end of the controversial 'blusinhas' tax. The tax, a 20% import duty on international orders valued under US$50, was implemented in August 2024 following approval by the National Congress.

In an interview on the program 'Bom Dia, Ministro,' Minister Durigan stated that while the government is considering the tax's removal, it does not intend to abandon the broader 'Remessa Conforme' program, which aims to regulate and tax international e-commerce shipments.

The 'blusinhas' tax has been a point of significant public debate since its introduction, affecting consumers who purchase goods from international online retailers. The minister's comments signal a potential policy shift that could impact cross-border e-commerce and consumer costs in Brazil.
