A bride in Santa Catarina, Brazil, went viral after throwing a box of the diabetes medication Mounjaro instead of a bouquet at her wedding. The creative stunt was part of a sponsored event.

In a move that has captured the internet's attention, a wedding in southern Brazil featured a modern twist on a classic tradition. Instead of the customary bouquet toss, the bride, Luara Bettiol from Turvo, Santa Catarina, launched a box of the medication Mounjaro (tirzepatide) to her female guests. The ceremony took place on April 25, and footage of the unique moment began circulating online in early May, quickly amassing over 118,000 views.

The bride explained that the decision was born from a practical observation. Upon receiving a bouquet she had commissioned for the event, her husband pointed out a logistical issue: nearly all the female guests were already married. With only two single women in attendance, the traditional toss seemed impractical. This prompted a search for a creative alternative that would still be engaging for the crowd.

The idea to use a Mounjaro box emerged from a partnership with an aesthetic clinic. Knowing the medication was currently a popular topic, Bettiol and her husband considered it as a symbolic prop. Crucially, the box thrown was empty. The entire wedding was heavily sponsored, with about 80% of the ceremony's costs covered by vendors in exchange for promotional visibility. Every detail, from the community hall venue to her two wedding dresses, was strategically chosen to showcase different businesses and create standout moments.

Before proceeding, the couple ensured the stunt was handled responsibly. Bettiol consulted with a physician who approved the idea on the condition that any guest who caught the box would need to undergo a full medical evaluation and consultation to determine if the medication was appropriate for them. This safeguard was put in place to address any health considerations.

The event unfolded with the bride energetically rallying her guests on the dance floor. A man on stage announced the bouquet toss would be "different," building anticipation before she threw the Mounjaro box. Ultimately, the guest who caught it decided not to use the medication. She instead opted to exchange it for an aesthetic procedure at the partnering clinic, concluding the viral moment with a practical alternative.
