Centenarian Tree Falls on Houses in Campo Grande, Blocking TrafficA century-old tree, infested with termites, split in half and fell on two houses on Rua dos Andradas in the Vila Duque de Caxias neighborhood of Campo Grande on Thursday morning, causing material damage and disrupting local traffic.
According to the report, the branches of the large paineira tree pierced the roof of one house and entered the interior of a bedroom. The tree also blocked the gate of a second residence, trapping a resident inside.
Fire department teams are currently on the scene removing the branches. Traffic in the area is reported to be blocked as a result of the incident.
