Police in Maceió arrested two members of a CSA organized fan group for the attempted murder and robbery of a former CRB supporter in 2023. The suspects were apprehended with stolen electronics.

In a significant development in a long-standing case of fan violence, authorities in Maceió, Alagoas, have made two arrests connected to a brutal assault and attempted murder. The Civil Police detained two individuals on Wednesday, May 6th, who are suspected members of an organized fan group, or 'torcida organizada,' linked to the club CSA.

The arrests stem from a violent incident that occurred on August 22, 2023. According to police reports, the crime took place in the Jatiúca neighborhood during a confrontation between rival organized fan groups. Five individuals reportedly exited a white vehicle and launched a vicious attack on the victim, who is a former member of CRB's organized fan group.

The assault was not merely a physical beating. During the attack, the perpetrators also robbed the victim, stealing his mobile phone and a debit card. This robbery element provided crucial evidence for investigators in the months that followed.

Police investigations have revealed a digital trail that helped lead to the suspects. Authorities determined that one of the arrested individuals had been actively using the victim's stolen mobile phone since the date of the crime. Furthermore, the stolen debit card was also reportedly used by another person under investigation.

Alongside the two arrests, police successfully seized three mobile phones as evidence. The identities of the detained suspects have not been publicly disclosed by the authorities.

Both individuals are now in custody and at the disposal of the Justice system as the legal process moves forward. The police have emphasized that their investigation is ongoing, with the primary goal of identifying and locating the other participants involved in the 2023 attack.

This case highlights the persistent issue of violence associated with organized fan groups in Brazilian football, particularly in the historic rivalry between Maceió's two major clubs, CRB and CSA. The arrests mark a step toward accountability for crimes committed under the guise of football fandom.
