A joint police and utility operation uncovered a clandestine energy connection at a wood export company in Mojuí dos Campos, Pará, leading to a criminal

A coordinated operation by security forces and the Equatorial Pará utility company has uncovered a major case of energy theft at a wood export business in the municipality of Mojuí dos Campos, Pará. The discovery was made on Friday afternoon during a scheduled inspection of the commercial establishment.

The investigation confirmed the company was operating with a direct, illegal connection to the power distribution network, completely bypassing any metering equipment. This setup allowed the entire industrial operation to consume electricity without any record, constituting a complete diversion of energy use.

The operation involved the utility's Corporate Security team, technicians from the Energy Recovery Sector (STC), and experts from the Scientific Police. Their preliminary technical report detailed the clandestine wiring method used by the establishment.

While no arrests were made at the scene, the individual in charge of the company at the time was taken to the Civil Police station to provide a formal statement. Authorities have since filed an Occurrence and Inspection Report (TOI) and opened an official inquiry to determine criminal liability for the property's owners and administrators.

The total value of the stolen energy and the financial damage to the electrical grid have not yet been estimated by the distribution company. The enforcement action was supported by both the Civil and Military Police as part of the activities of the Regional Superintendency of the West, headquartered in Santarém.
