A 34-year-old judge died following complications from an egg freezing procedure at a clinic in Mogi das Cruzes. Her mother recounts the tragic sequence of events, from initial pain to the fatal outcome.

In a heartbreaking case from São Paulo, a young judge's dream of future motherhood ended in tragedy. Mariana Francisco Ferreira, a 34-year-old magistrate, passed away after undergoing a routine egg retrieval procedure for in vitro fertilization. The incident has sparked a police investigation into the circumstances of her death.

According to her mother, Marilza Francisco, the procedure took place on a Monday morning at the Clínica Invitro Reprodução Assistida in Mogi das Cruzes. Mariana was discharged and returned home, but about an hour later, she began experiencing excruciating pain. Her mother described the scene as one of desperation, with her daughter screaming in agony.

Upon contacting the clinic, they were advised to return immediately. Back at the facility, Mariana noticed bleeding. Medical staff reportedly identified that an artery in her cervix had ruptured during the initial procedure, leading to significant blood loss estimated at two liters. The clinic attempted to control the hemorrhage on-site.

The situation escalated, and Mariana was transported to the Maternidade Mogi Mater hospital. Her mother stated that no ambulance was provided, so she drove her daughter herself, accompanied only by a clinic employee. Mariana arrived at the hospital around 5 PM and was admitted directly to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Hospital reports confirm she was suffering from acute hemorrhage. Doctors diagnosed her with anemia, the need for a blood transfusion, and a kidney lesion. Despite being conscious and speaking with her mother initially, her condition deteriorated. She underwent surgery the following day.

Tragically, in the early hours of Wednesday, Mariana suffered two cardiorespiratory arrests. Her death was confirmed at 6:03 AM. Her mother remembered her as a dedicated woman who cherished her career in the judiciary and harbored a deep desire to build a family.

The clinic released a statement expressing condolences and asserting that its team immediately followed technical protocols upon detecting complications. They emphasized that all surgical and medical procedures carry inherent risks and that they are cooperating with authorities. The hospital also stated it provided all necessary care and solidarity with the family.

The case is being investigated as a suspicious and accidental death. Authorities are working to determine whether the fatality resulted from medical errors or from complications inherent to the procedure. Based on reporting from g1.
