According to the court's decision, the sentence will initially be served in a semi-open regime. The judge presiding over the case denied the defendant the right to appeal while free, opting to maintain his preventive detention.
Fauzi had fled to Russia following the crime and was extradited back to Brazil in 2022 to face charges. The attack on Porta dos Fundos occurred on Christmas Eve and was widely condemned.
