A high-speed police pursuit in the city of Parauapebas, located in southeastern Pará, concluded with a violent crash on Thursday, leaving two adolescents injured and a man in custody on drug trafficking charges. The incident began when the Municipal Guard responded to reports of an armed suspect on a motorcycle who was allegedly threatening pedestrians and selling narcotics in front of a local school in the Altamira neighborhood.

Officers from the Municipal Ostensive Patrol (ROM) spotted the individual during their routine patrol. When they attempted to approach, the suspect fled on his motorcycle at high speed, initiating a dangerous chase through the residential streets. The pursuit came to a sudden and chaotic end when the fleeing man lost control of his vehicle.

The out-of-control motorcycle struck two young women, aged 14 and 18, who were on the street at the time. Following the collision with the pedestrians, the suspect's motorcycle then crashed into a parked car. The impact left both teenagers with injuries requiring immediate medical attention.

Emergency services from the Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) responded to the scene to provide aid to the victims. The suspect himself also sustained injuries, described as abrasions, and was transported to the Municipal Hospital for treatment. The Parauapebas Traffic Department was called to manage the disrupted traffic flow in the affected area.

A subsequent search of the suspect and the scene by the Guarda Municipal yielded a significant quantity of illegal substances. Authorities reported seizing over 60 portions of marijuana, cocaine, and crack cocaine. Additionally, a precision scale, a mobile phone, and more than R$1,000 in cash were confiscated as evidence.

The suspect, whose identity has not been officially released, was discharged from the hospital after receiving medical care. He was then taken directly to the Civil Police Station in Parauapebas to be formally registered and processed for the alleged crimes of drug trafficking and other offenses stemming from the incident.

The case highlights the ongoing dangers of police pursuits in urban areas and the collateral damage that can occur. The investigation into the full circumstances of the chase and the suspect's activities is ongoing. Based on reporting from g1.
