A fatal head-on collision on a highway in southern Piauí has claimed two lives and left two others injured. The accident occurred on Friday, May 8th, on the PI-397 road, also known as the Transcerrados highway, in the rural zone of the municipality of Sebastião Leal.
According to the Military Police, the crash involved a direct frontal impact between a car and a truck. The force of the collision was devastating, resulting in immediate fatalities at the scene.
The victims who lost their lives have been identified. They are the 65-year-old driver of the truck, Raimundo Nonato Feitosa, and the 40-year-old driver of the car, Rosadalia Cardoso de Sousa, who was a teacher by profession.
Two other individuals, who were passengers traveling in the truck at the time of the accident, sustained injuries. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the injured parties were promptly rescued and transported to a regional hospital for medical treatment.
The PI-397 highway, a key route in the region, was the site of the tragic incident. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal head-on collision. The loss of life has sent shockwaves through the local community.
