Sanepar to Pay R$5M for Water Quality Issues in Ponta GrossaThe Public Ministry of Paraná (MP-PR) announced on Tuesday the possibility of compensation for residents of Ponta Grossa who were affected by the supply of piped water with bad taste and smell.
Sanepar, the state water utility, has signed a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) with the MP-PR, providing for compensation for material and moral damages.
Under the terms of the agreement, Sanepar is required to pay R$5 million to the Municipal Fund for Diffuse Rights of Ponta Grossa for collective and homogeneous individual moral damages.
The TAC also mandates that Sanepar maintain continuous monitoring of water quality and communicate any changes in potability standards to the MP-PR, the State Water and Sanitation Agency (Agepar), and the Municipal Health Surveillance.
