Authorities in the Brazilian state of Amazonas have made significant progress in a double homicide investigation. The Civil Police of Amazonas announced the arrests of Arilson Silva de Lima, 30, and Rodrigo Mendonça Macedo, 24, in connection with the murders of a retired military police officer and another man.
The victims, identified as 51-year-old Francisco Marques dos Reis, known as 'Max,' and 57-year-old Paulo César Lima de Sena, were killed on February 27 of this year. The violent crime took place at a rural property in the Tarumã neighborhood, located in the West Zone of Manaus.
According to investigators, the victims were at the site when a group of armed and hooded individuals forcibly entered the property. The assailants executed the two men in a brutal attack. Security camera footage from the location captured the moment the retired officer was ambushed by four suspects who pointed weapons at him, physically assaulted him with slaps and kicks, and dragged him to another room before fatally shooting him.
The second victim's body was discovered inside a car parked on the premises. The case is currently under investigation by the Specialized Homicide and Kidnapping Department (DEHS). Two other individuals, identified as Riquelme Ramos Matias and Vinícius Rosas Torres Neto, have also been named as suspects in the case.
The arrests represent a key breakthrough for detectives working to bring all those responsible for the violent double homicide to justice. The investigation remains active as authorities work to fully uncover the circumstances and motives behind the attack.
