Authorities in the state of Amazonas have made significant progress in a double homicide investigation, arresting two men suspected of executing a retired police officer and his companion at a rural property earlier this year.
The Civil Police of Amazonas confirmed the arrests of Arilson Silva de Lima, 30, and Rodrigo Mendonça Macedo, 24. They are accused of participating in the fatal shooting of Francisco Marques dos Reis, a 51-year-old former Military Police officer known as "Max," and 57-year-old Paulo César Lima de Sena.
The violent crime occurred on February 27 at a site in the Tarumã neighborhood, located in the West Zone of Manaus. According to investigators, the victims were at the location when a group of armed and hooded individuals forcibly entered the property.
Security camera footage from the scene captured the chilling moments of the invasion. The video shows four suspects surprising the retired officer, pointing weapons at him, and physically assaulting him with slaps and kicks before dragging him to another room where he was shot to death.
The second victim, Paulo César Lima de Sena, was also killed during the criminal action. His body was discovered inside a car parked on the premises, indicating the brutal nature of the attack.
The case is currently under investigation by the Specialized Homicide and Kidnapping Department (DEHS). While two suspects are now in custody, the operation is not complete. Two other individuals identified as Riquelme Ramos Matias and Vinícius Rosas Torres Neto remain at large and are actively being sought by police.
The arrests mark a key step in solving a case that shocked the local community, bringing some measure of closure to the families of the victims while the search for the remaining suspects continues.
