USA Hockey has announced its preliminary squad for the 2026 IIHF World Championship, scheduled for May 15-31 in Switzerland. The roster features NHL prospects and collegiate talent from across North America.

The United States national hockey team is taking shape for the upcoming 2026 IIHF World Championship. USA Hockey has officially released its preliminary roster for the tournament, which will be held in Switzerland from May 15 to 31.

Between the pipes, the Americans will rely on a trio of netminders. Drew Commesso from the Rockford IceHogs, Devin Cooley of the Calgary Flames, and Joseph Wall from the Toronto Maple Leafs have all received the call to represent their country.

The defensive corps features a mix of NHL regulars and rising stars. Will Borgen of the New York Rangers, Declan Carlisle from the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Connor Clifton of the Pittsburgh Penguins headline the blue line. They are joined by Justin Falk from the Detroit Red Wings, Wyatt Kaiser of the Chicago Blackhawks, Ryan Lindgren from the Seattle Kraken, Mason Lohrei of the Boston Bruins, and Ryan Ufko from the Milwaukee Admirals.

Up front, the forward group showcases an exciting blend of professional and collegiate talent. Matt Coronato from Calgary, Paul Cotter of the New Jersey Devils, and James Hagens from Boston bring NHL experience. The attack also includes Isaac Howard from Bakersfield, Sam Lafferty from Chicago, and Riker Lee from Michigan State University.

The forward ranks continue with Ryan Leonard of the Washington Capitals, Oliver Moore from Chicago, Danny Nelson from the University of Notre Dame, and Thomas Novak from Pittsburgh. Matthew Oliver of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Max Plant from the University of Minnesota Duluth, Max Sasson from the Vancouver Canucks, and Matthew Tkachuk of the Florida Panthers round out the offensive selections.

This preliminary squad will compete for a spot on the final roster as Team USA prepares for the world stage in Switzerland. The tournament represents a significant opportunity for both established NHL players and emerging talents to showcase their skills in international competition.
