Alexey Vatutin, former world No.136 and now sparring partner for Mirra Andreeva, revealed the partnership will continue through grass season as they prepare

Alexey Vatutin, a former world No.136 tennis player turned sparring partner for rising star Mirra Andreeva, has opened up about the length of their collaboration. The duo initially set a trial period covering a series of tournaments, but after strong results, they have decided to extend through the grass season.

Vatutin explained that their partnership was originally agreed upon for a stretch of events: Doha, Dubai, Indian Wells, and Miami. He noted that the idea was to see how things would work during actual match weeks, as training before competitions differs from coaching during tournaments. The arrangement was intentionally open-ended to allow for evaluation.

Following a successful stint in Australia, where Andreeva won the title in Adelaide and showed consistent quality, the team felt the environment was positive. Vatutin emphasized that Andreeva's performance and team chemistry convinced them to keep working together.

Looking ahead, Vatutin revealed that they are now focusing on the grass season. An English visa is already being prepared, suggesting Wimbledon is a key target. Although Vatutin remains an active player, he is committed to supporting Andreeva through this period.

The flexibility of their agreement, without a fixed long-term contract, allows both parties to reassess after each phase. Vatutin highlighted that this approach worked well for their dynamic.
