Brazilian Operation 'Ícaro' Targets Comando Vermelho: 200+ Warrants ExecutedIn a major coordinated law enforcement action, Brazilian authorities executed over 200 warrants on Wednesday as part of the third phase of Operation 'Ícaro'. The operation's primary objective is to dismantle the operational structure of the Comando Vermelho faction in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais state.
The extensive raids took place simultaneously across multiple locations, including the cities of Juiz de Fora, Eugenópolis, and Matias Barbosa in Minas Gerais, as well as in Rio de Janeiro.
According to the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG), the judiciary authorized a comprehensive set of measures: 60 arrest warrants, 80 search and seizure warrants, 66 vehicle seizure warrants, and the freezing of assets and funds totaling R$8.4 million.
This operation represents a significant effort by Brazilian authorities to combat organized crime and disrupt the financial and logistical networks of the Comando Vermelho, one of Brazil's most prominent criminal organizations.
