Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola won his 13th Premier League Manager of the Month award, moving closer to Arsenal legend Arsène Wenger's record of 15.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has added another prestigious individual accolade to his collection. The Spanish tactician was named the Premier League Manager of the Month for the 13th time in his career, a milestone that puts him in elite company within the league's history.

This latest award sees Guardiola draw closer to the record held by former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. The Frenchman, who guided the Gunners for over two decades, accumulated 15 Manager of the Month awards during his tenure in English football. Guardiola now trails Wenger by just two such honors.

The all-time list for this award is dominated by legendary figures. Sitting comfortably at the top is Sir Alex Ferguson, the iconic former manager of Manchester United. Ferguson's incredible longevity and success at Old Trafford saw him win the monthly prize a staggering 27 times, a record that may never be surpassed.

Completing the top five are two other well-known managers. David Moyes, currently in charge at Everton but with a long career that includes stints at Manchester United, Sunderland, and West Ham United, has won the award 11 times. Just behind him is Jürgen Klopp, who recently departed Liverpool, with 10 awards to his name.

Guardiola's latest recognition comes during a season where his Manchester City side is locked in a tight title race. As it stands, City are in second place in the Premier League table with 71 points from 34 matches played.

They are chasing league leaders Arsenal, who have a five-point advantage. The Gunners sit at the summit with 76 points, although they have played one more game than City, having completed 35 fixtures so far this campaign.

The battle for the league crown adds extra significance to Guardiola's individual achievement. Winning the Manager of the Month award is a testament to his team's consistent performance over the period, a quality they will need to maintain to close the gap on Arsenal in the coming weeks.
