Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini says Dybala's recovery is promising, Kone is not unsellable, and Champions League qualification is crucial ahead of Parma.

Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini addressed the media on Friday ahead of his side's Serie A clash against Parma at the Stadio Tardini. With three matches remaining, the Giallorossi are locked in a tight battle for a top-four finish, and Gasperini emphasized the importance of staying focused on the immediate task at hand.

On the injury front, Gasperini provided an update on Paulo Dybala, who has been training regularly as he recovers from a leg injury. “He is working to regain strength and power in that leg,” said Gasperini. “The fact he’s back in training makes me hopeful for the future.” The Argentine’s return to full fitness could be a boost for Roma’s push for Champions League football.

Regarding the future of midfielder Kone, Gasperini acknowledged that no player is truly unsellable in modern football. “Kone is a strong player, and I hope he continues with Roma, but when irrefusable offers come in, they allow us to make other moves,” he explained. While the club would prefer to keep him, the financial realities mean that every player has a price.

The Champions League race was a central theme. Gasperini noted that the fourth-place finish brings significant resources, but he stressed that smart recruitment is not solely dependent on big budgets. “The world is full of clubs that operate well in the market even without such important resources,” he remarked. Roma’s consistency this season, having stayed in the top positions throughout, makes them deserving of a Champions League spot in his view.

Gasperini also praised the current squad’s resilience. “This group has shown its quality, always reacting and staying high in the standings,” he said. However, he stressed the need for improvement in the summer transfer window, seeking players who can add value to the team.

The coach delved into the dynamic between the head coach and sporting director, advocating for a symbiotic relationship. “They must work together, tell each other few lies, and speak honestly for the good of the club,” Gasperini stated. He emphasized that both roles should be aligned in their football philosophy and financial constraints.

Turning to the opposition, Gasperini had high praise for Parma’s young coach Carlos Cuesta. “He is very prepared and has taken the direct route to Serie A,” the Roma boss said. “His team is solid, and he’s already secured safety with games to spare. That’s a great achievement for a young coach.”

Gasperini also touched on the contributions of Soulé and Angelino. Soulé has been suffering from pubalgia but is overcoming it, while Angelino has had a difficult season but is returning to form, which bodes well for next year.

Despite the off-field chatter about director of football roles and summer plans, Gasperini insisted his focus remains on the match against Parma. “All these hypotheses are for many teams, but I am 100% concentrated on tomorrow’s game,” he concluded.
