Expert Semyon Zigaev forecasts a Rodina win with over 1.5 goals in their First League match against Chelyabinsk, as the Moscow club stands on the brink of historic promotion to the RPL.

Football commentator Semyon Zigaev has shared his prediction for the upcoming First League clash between Rodina and Chelyabinsk. His recommended bet is a victory for Rodina combined with a total of over 1.5 goals, offered at odds of 1.78.

Rodina finds itself on the cusp of a monumental achievement. The Moscow-based club is just one step away from securing a place in Russia's top football division, the RPL. This opportunity comes after a near-miss in 2023, when Rodina contested promotion playoffs against Pari NN. Despite losing the first leg 0:3 at home, they mounted a spirited comeback in the return fixture, scoring two goals in the first half, but ultimately fell short and remained in the First League.

Currently, Rodina occupies second place in the standings. They hold a four-point advantage over their nearest pursuer with just two rounds of matches remaining. This favorable position means the team's fate is entirely in its own hands. Securing promotion is a tangible goal they can achieve directly.

Their opponents, Chelyabinsk, are experiencing their first season in the second tier of Russian football since undergoing a rebrand in 2009, when the club ceased to be known as Zenit. For a newly promoted side, the primary objective is to establish themselves in the First League. Any higher ambition would be considered a bonus.

Chelyabinsk made a strong start to the campaign, even leading the table at one point and sparking hopes of an immediate promotion to the RPL. However, their form dipped significantly in the spring. The team, coached by Roman Pilipchuk, endured a nine-match winless streak, collecting only five points during that difficult period.

The Ural side managed to break that poor run in the most recent round. They secured a 2-0 home victory over Neftekhimik, providing a much-needed morale boost. Despite this, Chelyabinsk sits in ninth place. With a 10-point gap to the playoff spots, their season objectives are effectively complete, though the experience provides a solid foundation for the future.

For Rodina, the equation is simple: they need just two points from their final two matches to clinch promotion without relying on other results. Zigaev suggests the team will be eager to settle the matter this weekend rather than leaving it to a challenging final-day trip to Tula.
