Two individuals have been arrested by Bahia Civil Police on suspicion of involvement in a kidnapping and extortion case in Salvador. The operation also led to the seizure of mobile phones as evidence.

In a significant development in a Salvador kidnapping investigation, authorities have taken two people into custody. The arrests were made on Thursday morning during an operation conducted by the Bahia Civil Police, specifically targeting a case of extortion through kidnapping that occurred in the city.

The operation was carried out by the Specialized Criminal Investigations Department (Deic), through its Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Division (DAS). The individuals apprehended are identified as beneficiaries of the criminal act. The original kidnapping incident dates back to September 27, 2025, when the victim was approached and forcibly taken by criminals in the Macaúbas neighborhood at approximately 5:00 AM.

According to the police investigation, the victim was later released in the Pirajá Station area. The victim's vehicle was recovered the following day in the Arraial do Retiro neighborhood, also within the state capital. This sequence of events formed the basis for the ongoing investigation that led to the recent arrests.

Beyond executing the arrest warrants, police also conducted a search and seizure operation. During this phase, three mobile phones were confiscated. These devices are now undergoing analysis as part of the continuing investigative efforts to uncover further details about the case.

The Bahia Civil Police have confirmed that their work is far from over. Authorities stated that investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in the kidnapping scheme. Further search and arrest warrants related to this crime are anticipated as the case develops.

This operation highlights the persistent efforts of specialized police units in Bahia to combat violent crimes such as kidnapping. The successful arrests demonstrate the progress made in tracing those connected to the incident, even months after the initial crime took place.
