Crystal Palace advanced to the UEFA Europa Conference League final after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-2 on aggregate. Daichi Kamada started and played a key role in the victory.

Crystal Palace have booked their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League final following a convincing two-legged victory over Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk. The English club secured a 2-1 win in the second leg at Selhurst Park, sealing a 5-2 aggregate triumph and setting up a final showdown in Leipzig.

The match began with an early scare for Palace as a goal from Jeremy Pino was disallowed by VAR for offside in the 10th minute. Despite this setback, the home side managed to break the deadlock in the 25th minute. A sequence initiated by Daichi Kamada winning possession led to a counter-attack, culminating in a shot from Adam Wharton that was saved, with the rebound being converted by Daniel Munoz via a deflection.

Shakhtar Donetsk, facing a significant deficit from the first leg, pulled a goal back through Eginaldo in the 34th minute. His controlled left-footed shot from a Pedro Henrique pass found the top corner, making the score 1-1 at halftime and giving the visitors a glimmer of hope.

Crystal Palace, however, reasserted their control early in the second half. In the 51st minute, a piece of individual skill from Kamada allowed Tyrick Mitchell to deliver a cross from the left, which was expertly finished by Ismaila Sarr. This goal restored Palace's three-goal cushion on aggregate and effectively killed the tie as a contest.

While Shakhtar Donetsk enjoyed more possession throughout the match, they struggled to create clear-cut chances against a well-organized Palace defense. The home side expertly managed the game's tempo and saw out the remainder of the match without further incident.

The final scoreline of 2-1 on the night, and 5-2 overall, confirmed Crystal Palace's progression. Japanese international Daichi Kamada, who was instrumental in the first leg with a goal and an assist, once again started and played 88 minutes, contributing significantly to both the defensive and offensive phases of play.

The UEFA Europa Conference League final is scheduled to take place on May 27th at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany. Crystal Palace will now await their opponent as they aim to lift the European trophy.
