American defenseman Joseph Dushak has signed a contract with Germany's Straubing Tigers after a season split between KHL clubs Neftekhimik and Shanghai Dragons. The 28-year-old brings significant KHL experience to the DEL.

American defenseman Joseph Dushak has officially joined the German club Straubing Tigers, marking a new chapter in his professional hockey career. The move was confirmed by the team's press service, signaling a shift from the Kontinental Hockey League to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Dushak's most recent season was a journey across the KHL. He began the 2025-2026 campaign with the Shanghai Dragons, where he participated in 16 games and contributed eight assists before departing the Chinese franchise on November 1, 2025. He then finished the season with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, leaving the Russian club by mutual agreement.

The 28-year-old blueliner has accumulated substantial experience in the KHL over his career. In a total of 154 regular-season games across his stints with various teams, Dushak has recorded 80 points, comprising 13 goals and 67 assists. This offensive production from the back end highlights his ability to contribute to the attack.

Prior to his time in Russia and China, Dushak showcased his skills in North America. During the 2021-2022 season, he played for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League. His performance that year was particularly impressive, as he tallied 52 points in just 61 games, demonstrating a high level of play in a competitive league.

The signing adds an experienced international defenseman to the Straubing Tigers' roster. Dushak's background in both the KHL and AHL suggests he is a player accustomed to high-tempo, physical hockey, which should aid his transition to the German top flight.

His move to Germany represents the latest step in a career that has seen him play across multiple continents. From North America to Asia and now Europe, Dushak continues to seek opportunities to play professional hockey at a high level.
