A coordinated police operation in Macapá has resulted in the closure of a bar allegedly used as a front for drug trafficking and the arrest of two suspects. The action took place during a routine patrol by the Military Police on Thursday night in the Macapaba Housing Complex, located in the city's North Zone.
The investigation began when officers observed a man attempting to discard objects in a public area. Upon approaching him, police discovered ten portions of cocaine, four portions of crack cocaine, a mobile phone, and R$ 411 in cash. The suspect later confessed to trafficking drugs in the residential area on behalf of a criminal faction, using a trailer operating as a bar to facilitate sales.
Inside the establishment, authorities found various items believed to have been exchanged for drugs, including a television, a sound system, and another mobile phone. Additionally, point-of-sale machines used for illegal commerce and R$ 110 in cash were recovered. The suspect and all seized materials were transported to the Integrated Center for Public Security Operations (Ciosp) in Pacoval.
During the same patrol, a civilian reported another individual selling drugs in a public space. Police responded and apprehended the second suspect, finding 39 portions of cocaine and seven portions of crack cocaine in his possession. This individual stated he was trafficking drugs under the direction of a man already known to law enforcement.
The second suspect has a history of legal issues, including processes for femicide and drug trafficking. The location of his arrest is also identified as a known drug sales point. He and the evidence were likewise taken to the Ciosp facility in Pacoval for further processing.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat drug trafficking networks that use legitimate businesses as cover. The arrests and seizures represent a significant disruption to the alleged criminal operations in the Macapaba complex. Based on reporting from g1.
