UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has made his position clear ahead of his upcoming title defense. The undefeated 29-year-old fighter stated that the identity of his opponent is irrelevant to him, whether it is interim champion Justin Gaethje or backup fighter Arman Tsarukyan.

The bout is scheduled for June 15 at the UFC White House — Freedom 250 event. UFC President Dana White recently announced that Tsarukyan would serve as the backup fighter for the main event. This contingency plan ensures the fight proceeds even if one of the primary participants is unable to compete.

During a press conference, Topuria addressed the announcement directly. He emphasized that his sole focus is on performing inside the octagon. "For me, it's completely irrelevant," Topuria said regarding the backup arrangement. "What matters is that everything goes smoothly. Whatever happens, I will be in the cage."

The champion further elaborated on his mindset, showing supreme confidence in his abilities. "It doesn't matter who they put against me — Justin, Arman, or any of you," he told reporters. "I will be there, and the outcome will be the same for everyone." This statement underscores his belief that he can defeat any challenger in the division.

Topuria also commented on the contrasting attitudes of his potential opponents. He noted that Justin Gaethje has generally conducted himself with respect throughout the buildup. However, he pointed out that Arman Tsarukyan has been more vocal and seemingly more invested in the rivalry.

When asked about Tsarukyan's comments, Topuria remained unfazed. "Arman can say whatever he wants. He can dedicate his entire day to me — what can I say?" the champion remarked. He added that he does not take such remarks personally, suggesting it would be unwise to do so. "You have to be a bit foolish to take everything personally," Topuria stated.

The Spanish-Georgian fighter's comments reflect a champion who is entirely focused on his own performance rather than external distractions. His confidence appears unshaken by the possibility of facing a different opponent on short notice. The UFC lightweight division awaits the June 15 showdown with great anticipation.
