Unicamp Students Strike for Housing: 3,000 Join ProtestStudents at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) Limeira campus initiated a strike on Tuesday, leading to the suspension of undergraduate classes starting Wednesday. The action was approved and joined by approximately 3,000 students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA) and the Faculty of Technology (FT).

The primary demand driving the strike is the creation of student housing at the Limeira campus. The student body has outlined a total of eight key demands, which also include improvements to scholarship programs, transportation services, and access to specialized and mental health services.

Additional demands focus on campus life and governance, including the implementation of the Sexual Violence Care Service (SAVES), the allocation of physical space for academic centers, an end to outsourcing practices, and opposition to the autonomy of the Hospital de Clínicas.

The student representatives have stated that the strike will continue until Unicamp provides a direct response to all eight demands, with the issue of student housing being the top priority.
