Authorities in Manaus have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting that erupted during a clash between rival Vasco da Gama fan groups. The incident, which occurred last Sunday in the Morro da Liberdade neighborhood, left one man dead and two others injured.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Gerson Carvalho Gomes, was taken into custody on Wednesday. According to police, the violence unfolded in the moments leading up to a football match, when tensions between the organized fan groups boiled over into a public confrontation.
