Matlama Football Club, founded in 1932, stands as one of the oldest and most storied football institutions in Lesotho. The club was established by a group of Basotho students who had returned from South Africa, inspired by the structured football clubs they had encountered there. They named the team after a local mountain peak, "Matlama," symbolizing strength and resilience.
