Singer Ray, of the duo with Renan, is in grave condition at a Goiânia hospital after becoming ill at his property. He is in septic shock and on mechanical ventilation.

The Brazilian singer Ray, one half of the popular sertanejo duo with Renan, has been hospitalized in a gravely serious condition. The 63-year-old artist, whose real name is Amarildo Vicente, fell ill while at his country property in Bela Vista de Goiás, a municipality in the metropolitan region of Goiânia.

According to his manager, Saulo Costa, Ray began experiencing symptoms including fever and abdominal pain on Tuesday, May 5th. He was initially taken to a local hospital in Bela Vista de Goiás before being transferred to the Hospital Ruy Azeredo in Goiânia later that evening, arriving around 9:55 PM.

The hospital released an official statement detailing the severity of his condition. Upon admission, Ray was diagnosed with septic shock. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is receiving invasive mechanical ventilation, meaning he is intubated. The medical team is administering continuous vasoactive drugs to support his blood pressure and circulation.

Furthermore, the hospital's report confirms the singer is suffering from acute kidney injury and requires continuous hemodynamic monitoring and advanced intensive care support. The statement emphasizes that his clinical picture is unstable and of high complexity, leaving him in a gravely serious state with no forecast for hospital discharge.

As of Wednesday morning, May 6th, no specific diagnosis explaining the cause of his sudden illness had been communicated to his management team. Ray has been a professional singer for decades, forming his duo with Renan 18 years ago. He is a prolific composer, having written over 250 songs throughout his career.

His compositions have been recorded by major names in Brazilian music, including Gusttavo Lima, who recorded "A Cor da Esperança," and Leonardo, who recorded "Vida Nova, Novo Amor" and "Além do Sol, Além do Mar." Ray is also known for hits like "Coração Ferido" and "Você, Hoje, Me Liga."

The news has sent shockwaves through the Brazilian music community, with fans and colleagues awaiting further updates on his condition. The medical team continues to provide the highest level of intensive care as they monitor his critical situation.
