Darwin Nunez has requested to leave Al-Hilal at the end of the season, with negotiations underway for an early contract termination. The striker is open to a Premier League comeback.

Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez has formally asked to leave Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal at the conclusion of the current season. According to a report from talkSPORT, the player and the club are currently engaged in discussions to mutually terminate his contract ahead of its scheduled end date.

The primary reasons behind Nunez's decision are a significant reduction in his playing time and his subsequent loss of a regular starting position. This shift in his status within the squad occurred following the high-profile winter arrival of veteran forward Karim Benzema.

Nunez, who joined Al-Hilal from Liverpool in the summer of 2025 for a transfer fee of €53 million, has been actively exploring potential moves back to European football. While Turkish clubs have reportedly shown interest, the 25-year-old's preferred destination is a return to the English Premier League, a competition where he previously spent three seasons.

During his time at Liverpool, Nunez established himself as a potent goal threat, netting 40 goals across 143 appearances for the Merseyside club. His overall record in Saudi Arabia has also been productive, with 16 goals and three assists in 24 matches for Al-Hilal.

However, his recent lack of match action is a major concern. Reports indicate that Nunez has not seen any competitive playing time since February, a situation that has clearly fueled his desire for a change of scenery.

The player's current contract with Al-Hilal is valid until 2028, and his weekly salary is reported to be in the region of £400,000. Market valuation data from Transfermarkt places his current worth at approximately €25 million, a figure that may influence the terms of any potential transfer or contract termination.

The negotiations between the two parties are ongoing, with the outcome likely to determine whether Nunez secures his sought-after move back to one of Europe's top leagues this summer.
