Iranian officials reject latest US peace proposal as 'unacceptable', with parliamentarian threatening 'finger on the trigger'. Pakistan seeks to make ceasefire

Iran Rejects US Peace Proposal as 'Unacceptable', Threatens WashingtonIran has officially rejected the latest United States peace proposal, describing it as containing "unacceptable" points, according to an Iranian government source cited by the Tasnim news agency.

Iranian parliamentarian Ebrahim Rezaei, who serves as spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, downplayed reports of an imminent peace deal and issued a stark warning to Washington. "Iran has its finger on the trigger," Rezaei stated, signaling Tehran's readiness for potential escalation.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that Iran is currently analyzing the US proposal and will transmit its official response through mediators rather than direct communication.

On the diplomatic front, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar revealed that Pakistan is actively working to transform the current ceasefire between the US and Iran into a permanent resolution to the conflict. "We are trying to make the current ceasefire lead to a permanent end to the war," Dar stated.

US President Donald Trump offered a more optimistic assessment, citing "great progress" in negotiations with Iran. Trump made these remarks while announcing the suspension of a military operation that had been assisting ship transit through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The developments highlight the complex and fragile nature of the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two nations, with significant disagreements remaining despite ongoing negotiations.
