Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany responds to Mikel Arteta's comments on the difference in intensity between the Premier League and other top leagues, ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has offered his perspective on recent remarks from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who highlighted the perceived gap between the Premier League and other European competitions. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, Kompany addressed the comments without diving into controversy.

Arteta had earlier praised the first-leg encounter between Bayern and PSG as "probably the best match I've seen," but added that the intensity and quality are shaped by the demands of each league. He noted that teams in England face a grueling schedule with 38 league matches, FA Cup, and League Cup fixtures, and no winter break, contrasting with the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

Kompany, who spent several seasons at Manchester City, said he did not interpret Arteta’s words as criticism of Bayern or PSG. "I don't think it was a critique," Kompany explained. "It was more of a discussion about the differences in competitions. In England, there are 38 league games, plus the FA Cup and League Cup, and no winter break. It's not for me to judge, but the points are valid. Jurgen Klopp has often spoken about this."

The Belgian tactician emphasized that his extensive experience in English football gives him insight into the varying demands. However, he refrained from making any direct comparison or fueling debate, instead focusing on the upcoming clash with PSG.

Bayern Munich enters the second leg with a narrow advantage after a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Paris. The tie is finely balanced, and Kompany is keen to keep his players focused on the task at hand rather than external discussions.

The match at the Allianz Arena is expected to be a high-quality affair, with both sides boasting attacking talent. Kompany acknowledged the quality of PSG but stressed his team’s readiness.

Arteta’s comments have sparked conversations about the relative strength of leagues, but Kompany’s measured response suggests he regards the differences as a matter of schedule and context rather than a reflection of quality.
