STJ Rejects Charges in Faroeste Operation: Ex-Bahia Security Secretary ClearedIn a significant legal development, a Special Court of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) has unanimously rejected the charges presented by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) against former Bahia Security Secretary Maurício Barbosa and Delegate Gabriela Caldas. The decision was made during a session on Tuesday, the 6th, in Brasília, resulting in the rejection of the indictment and the summary acquittal of the two investigated individuals.
The case stems from the Faroeste Operation, a major investigation. The defense team for Maurício Barbosa, lawyers Sérgio Habib and Thales Habib, stated that the ministers understood there was no evidence of his participation in the crimes alleged by the MPF. Delegate Gabriela Caldas was defended by lawyers Nabor Bulhões and Daniela Caldas Rosa.
"After more than five years of investigation and an intense legal battle, the STJ recognized the absence of elements for the acceptance of the charges, definitively closing the case," the defense stated. This ruling marks the end of a prolonged legal process for the accused parties.
