Russian tennis player Anastasia Zakharova cited unpredictable court conditions and physical fatigue as key factors in her straight-sets loss to Linda Noskova at the WTA-1000 event in Rome.

Russian tennis player Anastasia Zakharova, currently ranked 81st in the world, has pointed to challenging court conditions and lingering fatigue as major contributors to her second-round defeat at the prestigious WTA-1000 tournament in Rome. The 22-year-old was eliminated after a 4:6, 1:6 loss to rising Czech star Linda Noskova.

In her post-match reflections, Zakharova offered a candid assessment of the playing surface she encountered. She described the court as 'crooked,' explaining that the ball's bounce was highly unpredictable. This inconsistency, she noted, is particularly problematic on clay courts, where players rely on predictable footing and ball behavior to construct points. She elaborated that the lines seemed to cause the ball to skid in various directions—down, up, or sideways—making it extremely difficult to anticipate.

Beyond the surface issues, Zakharova highlighted a significant physical challenge. She revealed that her legs were 'all locked up' and generally fatigued following her previous match against Dayana Yastremska. Despite efforts to recover between matches, she admitted the process was not entirely successful. This physical limitation directly impacted her performance, as she felt she was unable to move her feet effectively during the match against Noskova.

The loss marks the end of Zakharova's campaign in the Italian capital. Her opponent, Linda Noskova, advances to the third round where she will face Denmark's Clara Tauson for a spot in the tournament's fourth round.

Zakharova's comments provide a glimpse into the often-overlooked challenges players face beyond pure skill, including adapting to varying court conditions and managing the physical toll of consecutive matches in high-level tournaments.
