Brazilian sertanejo singer Ray, 63, remains intubated in a Goiânia hospital ICU but is showing gradual improvement after being admitted with abdominal pain and fever. Doctors are reducing his medication and plan extubation once his clinical response is stable.

Brazilian sertanejo singer Ray, one half of the popular duo with Renan, is currently receiving intensive care in a Goiânia hospital. The 63-year-old artist, whose real name is Amarildo Vicente, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on Tuesday after experiencing severe abdominal pain and a high fever at his countryside property in Bela Vista de Goiás.

According to the latest medical bulletin released by the hospital on Thursday, Ray remains intubated but is showing signs of gradual improvement. The medical team has identified an issue with his kidney function as a primary concern. Despite the positive trajectory, his overall clinical condition is still classified as grave.

The hospital's update indicates a cautious approach to his treatment. Doctors are slowly reducing the sedation and other medications supporting him. The plan is to proceed with extubation—the removal of the breathing tube—only when Ray demonstrates a consistently good clinical response. There is no official timeline for his potential discharge from the hospital at this stage.

The singer's health crisis began early on Tuesday morning. His manager, Saulo Costa, explained that Ray started feeling unwell around 6 a.m. with fever and abdominal pain. He was initially taken to a local health unit in Bela Vista de Goiás, but his condition worsened, prompting an urgent transfer to a specialized facility in the state capital.

Ray was transported via a mobile ICU unit and arrived at the Goiânia hospital at approximately 9 p.m. that same evening. Since his arrival, he has been under constant monitoring in the intensive care unit as the medical team works to stabilize his condition and address the renal problem.

Amarildo Vicente, known professionally as Ray, has been a fixture in Brazilian music for decades. Originally from Camboriú in Santa Catarina, he began his musical journey at the age of eight and made his first recording at 17. He has since released 11 albums and composed over 250 songs, including hits like "Coração Ferido" and "Você, Hoje, Me Liga."

His compositions have been recorded by major sertanejo artists such as Leonardo, Gusttavo Lima, and Leo Magalhães. For the past 18 years, he has performed as part of the duo Renan e Ray, building a significant following across Brazil. The news of his hospitalization has prompted an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues in the music industry.
