Body Part Found in River Identified as Missing Woman: Police ConfirmAuthorities in Charqueadas, Brazil, have identified a human leg discovered inside a garbage bag in the Jacuí River as belonging to a young woman who had been reported missing.
The Civil Police confirmed the limb, found on Sunday, belongs to 24-year-old Verônica de Paula. She had been missing since the previous week.
Identification was made possible after family members recognized a distinctive tattoo on the recovered limb, according to the investigating officer, Delegate Marco Schalmes.
The case remains under active investigation by local authorities.
